What Do People Look For in a Life Partner? Discover New Research Findings
You might have noticed that after many years of marriage, husbands and wives often start to look quite similar.
In every married couple’s life, there are many commonalities, and in some cases, even their faces start to resemble each other.
This is the effect after marriage, but now scientists have revealed what people look for when choosing a life partner.
Research from the University of Florida in the United States has shown that we prefer to marry individuals who are similar to us in terms of attractiveness.
The study included 1300 couples.
It was found that both men and women are well aware of their own attractiveness or charm, and couples tend to have similar thoughts about their beauty.
For example, men who consider themselves attractive prefer women who share similar thoughts about themselves.
The results were compared with the findings of 27 research reports.
These reports examined how attractive married couples find each other.
The findings of these reports were consistent with the new study, and researchers noted that the perception of attractive individuals has not changed over time across different cultures worldwide.
The study discovered that men’s thoughts about their own attractiveness are more accurate because they are more realistic.
The results of this study were published in the journal “Personality and Individual Differences.
