The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has revealed the anticipated Eid-ul-Adha 2023 date for sighting the moon of the Islamic month of Zilhaj in Pakistan.
According to the PMD, the birth of the Zilhaj moon is projected to occur on June 18 at 9:37 pm, with the possibility of some clouds in various parts of the country.
The statement also mentioned that based on information gathered from the observatory, there is a high chance of sighting the Zilhaj moon on June 19, which will mark the 29th day of Zilqad.
If the Zilhaj moon is sighted on June 19, Eid-ul-Adha is likely to be observed on Thursday, June 29, as per the PMD’s predictions.
The central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to convene on the 29th day of every Islamic month to confirm the moon sighting, and the final announcement regarding the sighting is made by the central committee.
Eid-ul-Adha commemorates the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s (PBUH) willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah, with the Almighty replacing his son with a ram to be sacrificed instead.
It signifies the conclusion of the annual Hajj, a pilgrimage to Makkah, which is one of the fundamental pillars of Islam and is expected to be undertaken by every financially capable Muslim.
