Taliban deposited millions of dollars recovered from the former rulers in the Afghanistan Bank

Afghan Taliban deposited millions of dollars and gold bricks recovered from former government officials in the central bank.

According to a statement issued by the Central Bank of Afghanistan, more than 12 million US dollars and gold recovered by the Taliban from former Vice President Amrullah Saleh and other government officials have been deposited in the Central Bank of Afghanistan.

The Afghan central bank said the Taliban’s interim government was committed to transparency in the system and therefore handed over the money to the central bank.

Pictures released by the Central Bank of Afghanistan also show a large number of dollars on the table, as well as note counting machines.

It may be recalled that the Taliban had recently claimed to have recovered US 65 6.5 million dollars and gold from the house of former Vice President Amrullah Saleh.

Earlier, the Taliban also seized US and Pakistani currency from border posts.
