ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a significant meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, in Paris. This marks their third meeting, reinforcing Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling the loan program, according to The News.

Discussion on New Financing Pact:

The meeting took place before the premier’s departure for London and included a fruitful discussion on the new financing pact. The encounter occurred on the sidelines of the world leaders’ summit, where key global issues were being addressed.

PM Shehbaz Acknowledges IMF’s Recognition:

Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed gratitude to the IMF chief for acknowledging Pakistan’s economic situation. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to honor all its commitments and appreciated the world’s assistance in overcoming severe economic challenges.

Balancing Relief and Economic Reality:

Highlighting the importance of striking a balance between providing relief to the people and addressing economic realities, PM Shehbaz emphasized the need to revive the country’s economy. He stressed that restoring economic growth was crucial for meeting the targets set by the IMF.

Revival of Economy and Fulfilling International Commitments:

The prime minister highlighted the necessity of implementing significant measures to restore an economy that had been adversely affected during the previous government’s four-year tenure. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fulfilling its commitments and pledges made to the international community.

PM Shehbaz, in a tweet, urged overseas Pakistanis to be cautious of malicious propaganda and disinformation aimed at tarnishing the image of Pakistan and its state institutions. During interactions with members of the expatriate community in France, the prime minister explained the circumstances under which the coalition government assumed office and highlighted the immense economic, diplomatic, and political challenges faced over the past year.

PM Shehbaz called for vigilance against malicious propaganda and disinformation campaigns. He outlined the broad contours of the Economic Revival Plan, emphasizing the government’s commitment to put the economy back on track through long-term policies.
