Pakistan’s Spinners Secure Victory against Nepal in ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023
In their opening match of the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan displayed an impressive bowling performance led by Syeda Aroob Shah and Tuba Hassan, leading to a successful defense of a low total against Nepal. The match took place at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong on Tuesday.
Effective Spin Bowling Restricts Nepal’s Batting
Pakistan set a modest target of 88 runs for Nepal to chase. However, the leg-spin duo of Aroob and Tuba proved to be a formidable challenge for the Nepalese batters. They consistently applied pressure and took two wickets each. Additionally, Umm-e-Hani, the off-spinner, and Anoosha Nasir, the left-arm spinner, claimed one wicket each, ultimately securing a nine-run victory for Pakistan.
Nepal Struggles with Batting, Pakistan’s Bowlers Excel
Nepal’s batting lineup faced difficulties in establishing partnerships and scoring runs. Only Kabita Kunwar (20 runs off 32 balls, including 2 boundaries) and Kabita Joshi (15 not out off 17 balls, including 1 boundary) managed to reach double figures in the match.
Pakistan’s Batting Performance
Having been put into bat, Pakistan A faced a challenging bowling attack from Nepal. They were bowled out for 87 runs in 19.2 overs. Shawaal Zulfiqar, the opening batter, emerged as the top scorer for Pakistan with a 36-ball 28, including one boundary.
Nepal’s Bowling Performance
Indu Barma was the standout bowler for Nepal, taking three wickets for just six runs in three overs. Kabita Joshi, Kabita Kunwar, and Sita Rana Magar also contributed with two wickets each.

Pakistan will now face the host team, Hong Kong, on Thursday, June 15. The match is scheduled to begin at 0600 PKT.
