Petrol Price Soars in Pakistan, Up by Rs7.45 per Litre
ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced a significant increase in petrol prices, raising them by Rs7.45 per litre from Rs258.16 to Rs265.61, effective July 1. This adjustment follows a surge in global market prices, as confirmed by the Finance Division.
Price Adjustments and Market Trends
According to the official notification from the Finance Division, the hike in petrol prices reflects recent upward trends in the international market, influencing the decision by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).
Impact on Diesel Prices
Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been raised by Rs9.56 to Rs277.45 per litre under the same economic rationale. These revisions mark the first change since the announcement of the federal budget for fiscal year 2024-25 earlier this month.
Tax and Levy Clarifications
Despite the fuel price increase, there will be no adjustments in taxes and duties, which remain unchanged from those set in the FY25 Budget. This includes the petroleum development levy (PDL), which stands at Rs70 per litre following recent budgetary adjustments.
