Military Vows to Bring Masterminds of Politically Driven Rebellion to Justice

ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, top military commanders, led by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, announced their determination to bring the “planners and masterminds” behind the “hate-infused and politically driven rebellion against the state and its institutions” to justice.

This announcement followed the conclusion of the formation commanders’ conference, the first one chaired by General Asim since assuming the role of army chief in November last year. Attending the conference were corps commanders, principal staff officers, and all the formation commanders of the army.

In an unprecedented move, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a remarkably detailed statement, primarily focusing on the events that unfolded after the violent protests on May 9.

Of particular significance was the indication that the top military brass is considering legal action against the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

While the trials of the perpetrators and instigators are already underway, the military emphasized the need to tighten the legal noose around those responsible for orchestrating the politically motivated rebellion. Their aim was to create chaos in the country, according to the military’s media wing.

Furthermore, the forum resolved to firmly deal with any attempts to hinder the conclusive defeat of hostile forces seeking to disrupt the country’s progress.

During the conference, participants received briefings on the prevailing security challenges, both internal and external, and discussed the army’s preparedness to counter evolving traditional and non-traditional threats.

Additionally, they were informed about the structural changes and cutting-edge technologies being incorporated to enhance operational readiness and improve logistical infrastructure in response to emerging security imperatives.

The COAS emphasized the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He reiterated the strong bond between the people of Pakistan and the armed forces, evident in the events of May 25.

Countering Baseless Allegations and Defeating Hostile Propaganda

The forum condemned the baseless allegations of custodial torture, human rights abuses, and suppression of political activities made against the Law Enforcement Agencies and Security Forces. Such claims are designed to mislead the public and tarnish the image of the armed forces for trivial political gain.

Addressing the attempts by hostile forces and their collaborators to sow societal division and confusion through fake news and propaganda, the COAS asserted that these designs would be defeated with the full support of the nation.

The forum expressed its strict condemnation of the incidents on May 9, commonly referred to as Black Day, and reaffirmed its resolve to bring the desecrators of Shuhada Monuments and Jinnah House, as well as the attackers of military installations, swiftly to justice under the Pakistan Army Act and Official Secret Act, which are derived from the Constitution of Pakistan.

Efforts to distort the truth and hide behind fabricated claims of human rights violations are futile, given the abundance of irrefutable evidence collected.

The COAS emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism and motivation during operations and achieving excellence in the training of army formations. He commended the commanders for their unwavering focus on the well-being and high morale of their soldiers, who are the backbone of the army’s operational readiness.

In conclusion, the forum expressed its commitment to make any necessary sacrifices to ensure the security and stability of the country, with the unwavering support of the proud people of Pakistan.

The forum paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices of the shuhadas, including officers and men of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies, and civilians who laid down their lives for the safety, security, and dignity of the country. Fateha was offered for the departed souls of the shuhadas. The forum asserted that the State of Pakistan and the Armed Forces would always hold the shuhadas and their families in the highest regard, honoring their sacrifices with utmost respect and dignity.

Following the violent protests on May 9, which both the military and the government referred to as a “black day,” the government launched a massive crackdown on PTI. Protesters, allegedly affiliated with the former ruling party, engaged in unprecedented acts of vandalism, damaging public and private properties. They even attacked the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and the residence of the Lahore corps commander, known as the Jinnah House.

These acts occurred shortly after the paramilitary Rangers arrested Imran Khan, the party chairman, in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case, which later came to be known as the £190 million National Crime Agency scandal. The arrest took place on the orders of the National Accountability Bureau, inside the premises of the Islamabad High Court.

As a result of the clampdown, several senior PTI leaders were apprehended, and many distanced themselves from the party.

The military’s resolve to tighten the noose around the masterminds behind the politically driven rebellion sends a strong message of determination to restore order and justice. With a focus on professionalism and high operational standards, Pakistan’s armed forces are committed to fulfilling their national obligations and ensuring the country’s security and stability.
