Roof Collapse in Amar Sidhu Area
According to a statement by Rescue 1122, the roof of a house near Bandianwala Bridge in Lahore’s Amar Sidhu area collapsed, causing the fatalities. Regrettably, the incident also led to the injury of a 10-year-old child, who was subsequently taken to Lahore General Hospital for medical attention.

In another incident, 14 people sitting under the “waiting shade” at the Government Mozang Teaching Hospital were injured when a wall collapsed. Rescue 1122 confirmed the occurrence and informed that the injured individuals received initial treatment and were then transferred to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital under the supervision of Punjab interim Health Minister, Dr. Javed Akram.
Critical Condition and Free Treatment
Dr. Javed Akram expressed concern for a 12-year-old boy who sustained head injuries and is currently in critical condition. He urged the commissioner to demolish the adjacent wall for safety reasons. Additionally, Punjab’s interim Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, assured journalists that the injured would receive free medical treatment.
Record-Breaking Rainfall in Lahore
Yesterday, Lahore witnessed a record-breaking rainfall of over 290mm in two intervals within a span of 10 hours, surpassing a three-decade-old record for the provincial capital. The heavy downpour caused severe disruptions to daily life and unfortunately resulted in the loss of ten lives due to various incidents.
Flood Warning for River Chenab
The Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) issued a warning stating that the heavy rainfall could lead to a “very high to exceptionally high level” of flooding in River Chenab from July 8-10. The FFD explained that a deep trough of westerly wave, coupled with strong monsoon currents and an approaching upper air circulation, is expected to cause widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at scattered places in the upper catchments of rivers Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab, and to some extent, Jhelum.
Anticipated Flooding and Cautionary Measures
The FFD predicts a significant risk of flooding in River Chenab, while the flood situation in rivers Ravi and Sutlej will depend on water releases from India. Additionally, the FFD cautioned about the possibility of high to very high-level flooding in the nullahs of rivers Ravi and Chenab.
