A look at Lt Gen Asim Munir’s career
Lt. Gen. Asim Munir passed out from Mangala Training School and was commissioned in the Frontier Force Regiment in the Army.
He assumed command of the Army under the current Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa as a Brigadier in the Force Command Northern Areas, was appointed DG Military Intelligence in 2017 and made the ISI chief in October 2018. He held this position for a short period of time.
After heading the ISI, Lt. Gen. Asim Munir was posted as Corps Commander Gujranwala and two years later he was posted as Quartermaster General at GHQ and is still serving in the same post.
Lieutenant General Asim Munir will be the first Army Chief who has served in Military Intelligence and ISI, General Asim Munir is the first Army Chief to be awarded the Sword of Honour.
Asim Muneer memorized the Holy Quran during his deployment as a Lieutenant Colonel in Madinah Munawara.
