According to the police, at least seven people sustained critical injuries as a result of the blast. Eyewitnesses shared their harrowing experiences, painting a picture of chaos and destruction. Journalist Olivier Galzi recounted witnessing a nearby building’s facade completely collapsing. Christopher Gaglione, another witness, expressed shock at the scene, describing it as chaotic. Local bar employee Khal Ilsey recalled hearing a tremendous explosion and seeing flames as he exited a restaurant on Rue Saint-Jacques.

The Rue Saint-Jacques, where the blast occurred, holds significant importance in central Paris. Connecting the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral to the Sorbonne University and the Val de Grace military hospital, it attracts a considerable number of tourists and foreign students, particularly during the early summer season.
