Understanding Monkeypox in Pakistan
Monkeypox is a viral disease that can be transmitted from animals or any material contaminated with the virus. It can be transmitted through skin contact, respiratory tract, eyes, nose, and ears. An infected person can also transfer the virus to others.
Symptoms and duration of monkeypox infection
Health experts have revealed that the symptoms of monkeypox include the onset of a rash on the third day of fever, which usually begins on the face and spreads to the rest of the body. The duration of this disease is usually seven to fourteen days, but it can last up to 21 days or even up to four weeks.
Last year, various countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Spain, reported cases of monkeypox. The symptoms of this disease are similar to those of smallpox, but the mortality rate is lower.
