On Sunday, two brave Pak Army soldiers tragically lost their lives while engaging in a firefight with terrorists in North Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, according to the military.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the Pakistani troops successfully targeted the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of two militants and the injury of two others. Furthermore, weapons and ammunition were seized from the neutralized terrorists.
Regrettably, during the intense exchange of gunfire, Naik Zaheer Abbas, aged 38 and hailing from Khushab district, as well as Lance Naik Mairaj Ud Din, aged 23 and from Dera Ismail Khan district, bravely sacrificed their lives.
The ISPR assured that the area is currently being cleared to eradicate any remaining terrorists.
“The armed forces of Pakistan are resolute in their determination to eradicate the scourge of terrorism. The sacrifices of our courageous soldiers only reinforce our unwavering resolve,” added the statement.
In a separate incident, two soldiers of the army were martyred during a clash with terrorists in Jani Khel area of Bannu district the day before.

According to the ISPR, the exchange of fire resulted in the elimination of two terrorists. In recent years, the army has undertaken numerous successful operations against terrorist groups across the country, effectively dismantling their infrastructure and neutralizing the threat they pose to both civilians and security forces.
During his inaugural press conference on April 25, Maj-Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of ISPR, disclosed that a total of 8,269 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) had been conducted since January. These operations led to the killing or apprehension of 1,535 terrorists. The majority of the IBOs took place in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, followed by Punjab and Sindh. On average, more than 70 IBOs were conducted daily by the army, police, and other law enforcement agencies since the beginning of the year.
