Pakistan once again celebrated victory as Saadi Abbas secured a gold medal at the prestigious Montreal Open Karate Championship in Canada. The exhilarating tournament took place on June 10-11, 2023, in the city of Montreal, showcasing an impressive display of skill from talented karate athletes around the globe.

Competing in the 75kg category, Saadi Abbas represented Pakistan with great determination and emerged as the champion, proudly bringing home the gold medal. His exceptional karate skills left the audience in awe throughout the competition.

Saadi’s remarkable journey to the top began with a notable victory over Iran’s Hamoon Dearfshipur, whom he defeated with a score of 4-2. Hamoon had previously participated in the 2020 Olympics held in Tokyo, adding further significance to Saadi’s triumph.

Maintaining his winning momentum, Saadi continued his path to success by defeating Canadian contender Ilyas Abdoun with an identical score of 4-2 in the second round. This showcased his consistency and skill against tough opponents.

In the final match, Saadi faced off against another Canadian athlete, Allarie Caron Nellgan. With a dominant performance, Saadi secured a resounding victory with a scoreline of 4-1, sealing his place at the top of the podium and earning the coveted gold medal.

With this impressive achievement on Canadian soil, Saadi Abbas is now set to represent Pakistan in the upcoming Asian Games, scheduled to take place in China later this year. Motivated by his recent success, Saadi aims to solidify his position as one of the world’s finest karate athletes, showcasing his unique skillset to the global audience.
