A look at the career of nominated Chairman Joint Chiefs Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad
Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza started his military career with 8 Sindh Regiment, and he joined the Pakistan Army after completing his training from PMA while General Sahir was second in the seniority list of four-star generals.
Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has been the Corps Commander Rawalpindi since September 2012. He was promoted to the post of Chief of General Staff in June 2019 while also serving as Adjutant General GHQ for a short period.
Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was appointed Vice Chief of General Staff in October 2018. He served as DG Military Operations from 2015 to 2018.
Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza supervised operations against TTP and other terrorist groups and also played an active role in the intra-Afghan dialogue.
Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was also a part of the Gilgit-Baltistan Reforms Committee, he also served in GOC 40 Infantry Division Okara, he was the Director General Military Operations during the former Army Chief General (retd) Raheel Sharif.
Sahir Shamshad is currently Corps Commander of Ten Corps Rawalpindi of Pakistan Army.
