By-elections are held when any seat in the National Assembly or any of the four provincial assemblies becomes vacant due to resignation, death, disqualification or de-notification of any elected member. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issues the schedule for the by-elections in one constituency or set of constituencies as the case may be, and conducts the by-elections.
