The dream of judicial justice, the dream of equal education, the dream of a third force, the dream of eradicating corruption, the dream of educating millions of illiterate children, the dream of police reform, the dream of the rule of law, the dream of liberation from the IMF. The dream, the dream of one million jobs, and the dream of building five million houses, and most of all, the dream of change.
Two years have passed since the PTI’s political era. Meanwhile, the graph of PTI’s political, economic and diplomatic performance has come down to the lowest level. During this time, Khan Sahib found such favorable conditions that no other political party that had come to power in the last several decades had. Khan himself proudly states that he and the state institutions are on the same page, yet if the performance is zero then who is responsible? According to pre-Corona statistics, when the PTI came to power, the growth rate was 5.8, which has now come down to 0.38. Under Khan, debt is reaching a record high of Rs 43,000 billion, which is 98% of our national product. A simple example is that if a person’s income is 100 rupees, then he is owed a debt of 98 rupees. When Khan Sahib came to power, the per capita annual income was 1652 dollars which is now 1153 dollars. Inflation is skyrocketing and unemployment is on the rise. On the diplomatic front, we are doomed that the poor Kashmiris have been in the worst lockdown for the last 11 months and Imran Khan has not been able to put any pressure on Modi through the OIC. This is a glimpse of the performance of the two-year political era.
There is petrol in the country but it is missing from petrol pumps, sugar is there but it is missing from utility stores and shops, a new wheat crop has just arrived but flour is scarce. Now plain bread is going to cost ten rupees. Medicines are missing from medical stores. It has been three or four months since Corona came to the country but it is out of control and it is spreading further and Khan himself is giving horrible news of the fear of millions of deaths in July and August. Corona’s life-saving bulb-saving drug or plasma is selling like hot cakes in the millions. PTI lawmakers are openly criticizing their own government. He says he has no access to his own rulers. One MP said that the bureaucracy is as powerful today as it has been in the last 70 years. Instead of trusting the ministers of his team, the Prime Minister trusts the secretaries of their ministries. Two years of performance is nothing but accountability or revenge. If a mafia is strong, then the fault lies with the governance and not with the mafia.
